The North Carolina Zoo is nationally recognized as one of the nations finest zoos.
It was the first American zoo designed from it's inception around the "Natural
Habitat" philosophy--presenting the animals and plants in exhibits that closely
resemble the habitats in which they would be found in the wild. The zoo's animal collection includes over 1100 specimens representing
250 different species of mammals, reptiles, birds, & insects. Among the most popular exhibits are those that display Polar Bears,
Sea Lions, Elephants, Gorillas, & Lions. The 37-acre African Plains exhibit alone is as large as many entire zoo's. The N.C. Zoo
is the nations largest walk-through natural habitat zoo. It's African & North American exhibit regions span more than 500acres with more
than 5 miles of walkways. Bring your walking shoes!

career of the KING of NASCAR. See the Pettys' family racecars from the 1960's to the present. Also on display is Richard Petty's own
personal collection of guns, knives, racing memorabilia and of course, TROPHIES! Just in case you didn't know, Richard Petty holds a
record in NASCAR that will never be beaten with 200 wins, and 7 championships. Hence the name The King. |
